Welcome to our series Golfers We Love. Where we interview women who love the game of golf. Whether they play professionally, work in the industry or just love to play occasionally, we want to share their stories with you!
Hailey! Thank you so much for interviewing with us, we’re so excited. Let’s jump right in! So to start off, when did you start playing golf and how did you get into it?
I started playing competitive golf when I was nine. My dad got me into the game at a really young age, taking me to the course with him and teaching me the short game. Then he took over a junior golf organization called COJGA (Central Oregon Junior Golf Association). That’s when I started playing in tournaments against girls my own age.
That’s so awesome that your dad is who got you into golf like that! Since you’ve been playing golf since you were nine, what’s something that golf does for you?
Golf helps me do something bigger. I want to impact young girls and inspire them to play golf. I want to be the best role model I can be and help lead girls into successful women.
That is truly a beautiful goal to have. Something we feel strongly about as well. Now, we know that your fans and followers know this but for those that don’t, what is your favorite club in the bag?
My favorite club is my driver. #Trench
Yaaaasss! Goin’ for the trench! Speaking of trench, you were on Golf Channel’s Shotmakers! Can you tell us a little about your experience on the show?
I am extremely grateful for Shotmakers. It truly was the experience of a lifetime. I was able to meet some amazing lifelong friends and had the honor of being partnered with Andrew Bachelder. It’s something I will remember for the rest of my life. It also led to my first financial sponsorship. I feel very blessed.
Very cool, can’t even imagine how incredible it would be to be on a first-season show like that! And congrats on your sponsorship! Speaking of competing…do you have any superstitions for before you play a round of tournament golf?
I used to have a TON of superstitions, but now I try to have better control of my mind. Its amazing what you can do when you take control of your own thoughts.
Okay, this next one is a standard question for us but we love it. If you were talking with someone who was thinking about playing golf, what would you tell them to convince them they should play?
I would tell them how golf builds friendships. I have made some of my best friends on the golf course. Relationships are what life is all about and golf is the perfect tool to make those.
So so true.Okay…now for some off-topic questions! Let’s get to know you a little more.If you could have a superpower what would it be and why?
It would be really cool to be able to eat whatever I want without gaining weight or getting sick…isn’t that what every girl wants? Endless tacos and cheeseburgers.
We’ve never heard of that superpower before but now that’s all we want. You’re so right. So no superpower but if you could be an animal what would you be and why?
I think it would be cool to be a dog because they get to sleep all day, they still get to play sports, and everyone loves dogs.
We sure do love our dogs and they love golf! It really is a win-win. Now besides golf, what is your favorite hobby?
I love love love to go shooting. In the woods, in a shooting range, doesn’t matter!
Wow! That’s so interesting! We would’ve thought would cover the answer to our next question! What is something that most people don’t know about you that you want them to know?
I want people to know that I am super passionate about making a difference. I think a lot of times with social media people just assume I want the followers or the fame or whatever. But I really just want to be the role model for a younger girl that I didn’t have when I was growing up. I looked up to a lot of male athletes but I think having a female role model would have been really good for me. I want to be that for young girls.
We hear you loud and clear Hailey. And we hope everyone out there does too! Okay…we’ve made it, the last question! We’ll end it on a fun note. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
Honestly my life is like a real life comedy show sometimes and I just have to laugh at it. Recently I was trying to put my fold up net back in its travel bag and just when I thought it was good to go, the net totally broke open, unfolded and whacked me in the face. Wouldn’t have been a big deal until I realized my hot neighbor was standing there and saw the whole thing. My life, ladies and gentlemen.
